The Police’s classic music video “Roxanne” has over 53.7 million views on YouTube. It’s one of The Police’s best-known songs. This hit was written by Sting and was released in April 1978 as a single on their debut album Outlandos d’Amour. “Roxanne” is about a man who falls in love with a prostitute.

The Police commanded the pop charts for most of their career. The trio was known for their rock-pop sound and army fatigues, even though they were not part of the punk rock movement or even considered as a rock band. However, “Roxanne” peaked at No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart.

The Police quickly became a part of pop culture with Sting at the forefront. But, they didn’t want to wear out their welcome. They released five albums from 1977 to 1986. Once they sold 50 million albums, they went their separate ways and worked on their solo projects. Still, there is no other band that exudes the same style and timeless body of work like they do.
