“Gentle on My Mind” is a highly acclaimed song released in 1967 by Glen Campbell that won four Grammy Awards in 1968. Two of the awards were won by the song writer John Hartford, for Best Folk Performance and Best Country & Western Song (Songwriter). The other two awards Best Country & Western Solo Vocal Performance, Male and Best Country & Western Recording went to the legend himself, Glen Campbell.

The song was remade by many other artists, including Aretha Franklin, Dean Martin, Patti Page and The Band Perry, but Campbell’s version remains the best. Hartford says that the inspiration to write the song came to him after he watched the film Doctor Zhivago when his own memories took over, and the song was born in just 30 minutes!
